Technical solutions for flexible working

There is a wide range of technical solutions available to support flexible working and teleworking, increasing productivity and improving work life balance. The following represent some of the most common ICT solutions employed to enable remote working and mobile working. Now with superfast broadband, there are new applications emerging too.

If you are working remotely from a home office or garden office your information and office systems can now be accessed securely with remote computer access and remote internet access in a number of different ways, including virtual private networks (VPNs), remote desktops and terminal servers.

And if you are mobile working, you don’t necessarily need a fixed broadband connection to access the information you need. Depending on what your business requirements are, mobile technology, BlackBerries, smartphones and Superfast WiFi hotspots all provide alternative ways of accessing systems and data while mobile working

Finally, there are plenty of other applications out there that can further help free up you and enable telecommuting. These include Google Apps, digital dictation systems and even document scanning and management systems to ‘end the paper trail’!

Have a look at the technical details page in the employers section for more details on the flexible working solutions mentioned above and others.
